This course is the result of twenty years of recovery and learning after my first church experience. I learned that I was thinking about the church all wrong--it isn't a toaster. I can't just find the "broken" part and replace it, expecting that it will be fixed. Learning to see and engage the church as a social system changed me in some important ways: I felt more effective as a leader. I felt free as a minister. I learned to love the church all over again. I think that's what Jesus wants for us. That's why I created this course.
